Biennials - Art on a Global Scale   is a recently published book by the art critic Sabine B. Vogel, dedicated to an internationally increasing exhibition type: the so-called biennials. Portraits of the most important biannual art shows discuss motives of their development, their power to fascinate, their political and social role. Numerous illustrations and a list of the newest biennials founded after Venice complete this publication that offers the first compact overview of a highly complex topic. Our editorial design refers to the internationality of this exhibition type: the foldout cover of the book presents a world map featuring the biennials of the modern era in the front part, on the backside the world map shows the dissemination of biennials in the age of globalization. The single letters “Biennials” are drafted out from a partially lacquered B on the cover through to the introduction part.
